But things go from hectic to hysterical when Artie realizes the kids are running the house with their newfangled technology. Funny family movie which showed that sometimes the old way is the best way!
This is movie is targeted towards adults but still acceptable for kids. My 9 year old tolerated this movie and watched the whole thing without nodding off or getting distracted which is usually a good indicator.
Enjoyed watching this one. It is funny and cute and would be a good movie for parents and grandparents to see.
This movie was terrible. I couldn't watch more than 30 minutes.
I adore Bette Midler, Marisa Tomei, and Billy Crystal. All three of them are fine talents, but this film was a quick cash grab. It was sweet and basically a tale of culture clash (the generation gap of the old fashioned grandparents and the never-say-no politically correct parents). The children are the rambunctious forces in the film for Crystal and Midler to bounce jokes off of. It seemed bittersweet and unsure of what side it wanted to join: the good old days or the new and improved. It was a little bit uneasy, flowing for portions and then hitting bumps in the road in between. However, it is just a disposable family film (as, sadly, many of them have become nowadays), so I wouldn't avoid it, but I wouldn't recommend it either. It is what it is: mediocrity encrusted with wasted comic gems.
