Add a CommentMindless violence combined with endless meaningless talk. I was too bored to finish watching it.
Too much talking about the life-lessons about small time crooks and the mobs, that included the back ground voice on the 2008 financial crisis. On the other hand, they were very interesting life-lessons.
its not a typical movie. its a movie thats better left as book. its a commentary on life in america and the economy. one scene when the man is shot is ammmmazing but its not worth the entire movie for it.
Interesting look at the lives of criminals. A bit slow at times.
Brad Pitt, I have enjoyed his work since maybe Babel. Killing Them Softly is a wonderful film. Great actors, atmosphere to die for. Killing Them Softly reminded me of the great Sidney Lumet films of the 70's Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, Prince of the City. Killing Me Softly was not a box office hit because it revealed the dirty truth that the USA is a business and a dirty business. Whether one works for the mob or for the sainted finance industry which 23 percent of Omaha does it is the same. An ugly truth people do not like to face up to An obvious metaphor all through the film and my fellow reviewers did not notice it. Crime and business the same. Thank you Mr. Pitt keep turning out these wonderful films and occasionally throw a bone to the masses to make great films like Killing Them Softly possible
This movie had it all like blood, violence, prostitutes, low life's, junkies and needles. The scenery was repulsing and depressing most of the time.
It has a very unique style of filming. Several of the camera tricks are things you won't see in other movies. That made it very enjoyable.
Terrible movie. I was bored in the first 10 minutes. I gave up but my husband stuck it out. He watched it to the end but the entire time kept waiting for something to happen. Confusing, boring, no plot. Just pass on this one.
If you don't lke the first 5 minutes, you won't like the rest of it. Unfortunately, I just wasted an hour and a half waiting for somethiong entertaining to happen. Even Brad Pitt isn't enough to carry this dog of a movie.
Okay, I loved the actors (Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini, Brad Pitt), the book the movie was based on was a great read... but the movie, OMG! Is there a word for "much, much worse than terribly awful"? If there is, it would apply to this film. TWC (formerly known as "The Weinstien Company", pka "Miramax"), king of releasing "big" independent movies, didn't have showings for critics or test audiences, nor was there any marketing for it. Usually I ignore what others say about movies, but they should have just quietly put this one straight to home video. It's barely 90 min long, and about 80 minutes of it were dedicated to talking about nothing, occasionally punctuated by shootings and violence... except you have no idea WHY Guy1 is shooting Guy2. Man this sucked.
