Not for everyone. I listen to classical music, but am hardly an aficionado. I believe there may be resonances between the characters and the music of which I remain unaware. Certainly, I was not aware of Beethoven's Quartet #131 being especially remarkable. If you don't like classical music this movie probably won't stand up on its plot. I did find the music and the quartet of people moving at times.

Excellent movie...very emotional and deep...wonderful music...amazing acting...

This movie is not for intellectuals! I wasted $14 and two hours of my life. However, I was supporting the VIFF, so at least they made some money.

I enjoyed the film and was interested until the end. I felt that Philip Seymour Hoffman's fake playing looked completely fake... could see the bow bouncing awkwardly on the strings. Christopher Walkin on the other hand looked professional and he did an awesome job playing his part as usual. I would recommend this movie but I believe really intellectuals would enjoy it.

Waste of time. Cliche after cliche.

I can't recommend this movie. The plotline was completely predictable. Phillip Seymour Hoffman's presence was the only thing that saved it. I have seen better acting on tv soaps.

a very well done film with some very talented actors. it was nice to see an intelligent plot that never talked down to its audience and didn't try to distract us with incessant special effects. it also has the best fake instrument playing I've ever seen in a film. and it has beethoven, which is always a plus in my book!

It's nice to see Christopher Walken play a role where he's neither a Psycho or just plain whacky. He's really a very good serious actor. The other actors were very good as well. Not the kind of movie that everyone can appreciate but I liked it.
