A very good film. Its much like watching an updated version of the Wonder Years, except for a more mature theme. Great job by all cast members.

Loved it! Characters were interesting, had real life challenges and felt I could relate to them (even though I was that young a long time ago!).

One of the best teen movies. In a way, it was kind of shame about the last 15 minutes, but I guess necessary to wrap up the story.

Bittersweet story about High School teens who don't always fit in. Teenage angst, redux. See the earlier "Wild Reeds" from Andre Techine for a more sophisticated take on this story. Also, "Dare" is a lot more fun and raunchy.

Having come of age then myself, the soundtrack was weak, our clothes and hair were bigger with more poof, and there were too many rip offs from several John Hughes films. This film is depressing with few light moments which made it seem overly long. Not many laughs.

After looking at all the other comments here, all I can say is, really??? I found it to be a real snooze-fest.

Not only is this a truly fantastic adaptation of a truly fantastic novel; it is also a truly fantastic film. I highly recommend this film to anyone who has ever felt different.
