I can't imagine how difficult this book was to adapt into a movie but my expectations were totally blown away. Emma Watson's American accent is probably the only bad thing about this (and it's not even THAT bad.) I definitely plan on borrowing some of Sam and Patrick's dance moves the next time I hear Come On Eileen.

15 year old Charlie is dealing with the anxiety and fear of starting high school alone after his best friend committed suicide. To make the transition from middle school to high school lightly easier Charlie starts writing letters to a stranger who he heard was nice, but has never met. On the first day the only friend Charlie makes is his English teacher, slowly he overcomes his shyness and approaches a boy in his class Patrick, soon after Charlie meets his step sister Sam as well and they all become best friends. Throughout the year Charlie does on his first date, tries drugs and drinking, etc. But near the end of the school year Charlie finally lets out a secret that he has never told anyone, that leads to him having a severe mental breakdown and being hospitalized. Slowly Charlie gets better and decides that in his sophomore year he will not be a wallflower anymore and will try to make new friends. I loved The Perks of Being a Wallflower so much! At first I was a little confused and was not sure what was happening but as the story progressed everything became clear. This movie revolves around a group of friends who are wallflowers or a group of people who are different. For me this movie explains that it is okay to be different and that you don’t have to be like all the other teenagers, high school isn’t just about being cool. I thing The Perks of Being a Wallflower is definitely worth giving a try.

This movie is a good example of a stereo-type High School. It's an amazing movie that shows how labels can become a problem and how when you have true friends they love you. It also has an amazing sound track!

Solid watchable movie with a good cast. Attacks a number of coming-of-age issues (maybe a bit too much considering they were supposed to be high school kids), with an unexpected twist at the end that I felt was not necessary and detracted a bit.

A good teen movie (finally!) that is engaging but predictable. The acting is quite good and the direction also. Teens will love it for sure.
