One of those movies you can watch again and again. Pure delight!! Read the book too. The movie is slightly different from the book.

Does this one have English subtitles? The other one on here doesn't.

Great movie -- it doesn't matter that it's in French. It's funny and the characters are great. It's the only French movie I have ever thought worth seeing again. I enjoyed every minute. For those of you who have trouble getting closed captions on your computer or you think it's unavailable, try turning on closed captions in the settings of the program. A lot of documentaries and foreign films have an option buried there. In fact, I've had two different translations running: one through settings and the other through the play controls.

What a wonderful movie! I was recommended this by a coworker and couldn't wait to see it. I was not disappointed. It was a beautiful story and relationship. Loved the ending. Very much enjoyed this one.

This movie is fantastic - I'd recommend it to anyone. ( Make sure you know how to bring up subtitles if you don't speak French. )

There is a bit of conversation about subtitles. Friends of ours borrowed a copy without subtitles, or they were somehow irretrievably turned off. So if you don't speak French, check with the library that there are subtitles and how to turn them on.

This is a great story, with super acting. It peels back the life of a man with serious physical handicaps in both physical and emotional terms. It also shows how all our lives can be lightened with a little bit of irreverence in case we are taking our situation or ourselves too seriously.

The ending is wonderful.

A wondeful film. PSA If you are borrowing this from Ajax Public Library there are 2 copies. If you require English Subtitles ensure you borrow:

Cheers!

(Phillipe is dictating a letter to Magalie, to his penpal, Eléonore) Phillipe: "Her shining eyes are made of charming minerals, and in this strange, symbolic world..." Magalie: "And in this strange... symbolic... world..." Driss: "F*cking boring!" Phillipe: "...where the inviolate angel and ancient sphinx..." Magalie: "Is that with an 'i' or a 'y'?" Driss: "This is killing my mind." Phillipe: "'Sphinx' is with an 'i'." Driss: "Why bother with this crap? Sphinxes, daisies, angels... You'd go for this stuff?" Magalie: "True, one could be more direct. ..."And ancient sphinx..." Go on." Driss: "What's she look like?" Phillipe: "I don't know. That's not what matters. It's intellectual and emotional, not physical. I want a mind-to-mind relationship." Driss: "If she's a troll, it'll be mind-to-troll!"
