A relatively dull (and poorly written -- or is it rewritten?) disappointment when compared to Pixar's standards of quality. They could have tried a bit more, and there's no use hiding behind the "it's a kid's movie" excuse when Pixar has produced contemporary classics that serve audiences of all ages. I'm glad this and CARS were the Pixar films I skipped the theatre for; instead I saw WALL-E, FINDING NEMO, THE INCREDIBLES, the TOY STORY series, A BUG'S LIFE, and MONSTERS INC. I hope this decline doesn't become a consistent trend.

I think what's sad about this movie is that the woman who had the idea to begin with was fired from working on the film. And she had been trying for several years to get this thing done.....

I thought the movie was good. The animation on the characters was really well (That hair Merida, just wow) and they seemed so real and I liked how they funnily portrayed the responsibilities of the parents and the mother-daughter relationship. It has laugh out loud moments and it gets sad around the end and yes there were times when Merida got annoying in denying what she did wrong, but other than that I like it very much and re-watch it whenever I can.

Decent movie, but expecting great stuff from Pixar. Awesome animation though.

I like this movie but there were other ones better than this.

For a Scot like me, this was a wonderful film. The animation really captured the beauty and the feeling of Scotland. The story and the meaning behind it is incredibly poignant. The characters are all so human, that it's hard to believe that it's not all real; that these characters weren't, in fact, real people that were somehow forgotten by time. The musical score was beautiful, so it added to the Scottish flavor of the film.

I really didn't want to, but I had to give this one 4/5 stars. The plot was incredibly poinant to Brother Bear (except fot yhe small fact that Queen Elinor had to, and wanted to be switched back.) Most of my words for this macth Sephiru and to add: I feel that after their 5oth film, Tangeld I feel that Disney is trying too hard and for that, they are losing a type of integrity to what Disney is all about. Not to mention, how they are always doing CGI Formatings-I take it The Princess and The Frog was to be their last "Handy" works. But stil I liked it, because I am A huge fan Of Disney! :) You can't give speculations on things like this if you Don't know an inkling amount about Disney! ;)

Beautiful and awesome, great movie. You are going to love the movie and will watch it again or just one more time. Loved the story, my whole family loved it. Merida is one of her kind, not so boring, not so perfect, but ready to fight and ready to win. Great story, great movie, won Oscar Award 2013.

This is simply not Pixar's best work. In fact, I'd easily deem it their worst. I'm at a loss for how it won best picture this year. It flaunts the idea of female empowerment so openly that I had to roll my eyes. I know Disney simply wants an extremely rebellious and feministic princess to stick into the lineup of feminine princesses and appeal to parents who deem them damaging, but this was not the way to do it. Merida is brash and denies her flaws until the very, VERY end of the film, finally having no other choice but to cry and have her problems solved magically when she fails to fix them herself because of her bullheaded personality. Queen Elinor, clearly the deuteragonist of the film, is left without much fleshing out. In fact, many viewers are so enthusiastic about Merida and the feministic message of the film that they completely forget about Elinor. The commentary leaves her name out entirely, citing her as "Merida's mom" or "the mom" the entire time, despite her being the second most important character. The plot is boring and leaves many of what could have been exciting aspects of the film's lore unexplained. At least the animation is up to Pixar's usual standard. It is quite beautiful. If you love feminism or aren't picky about what "inspiring" messages you can derive from a film, by all means give this a watch. You'll like it. Unfortunately, it left many Disney, Pixar, and Princess fans disappointed with its lack of polish, feeling a lot like a 100 minute "you can do it, girls!" PSA.
