What a slow-moving, boring dialog and a waste of Emily Blunt's talent. Even her charm couldn't save the day! This could have been one of those dead-boring foreign-made movies, with an unknown language and English subtitles that you watch for no other reason than helping you fall asleep. And how convenient to let the audience finish the storyline.
Your Sister’s Sister is one of the most complicated and unconventional stories of friendship made in recent film history. Mark Duplass co-stars with lovely ladies Emily Blunt (one could and should write a whole blog on her awesome indie filmography) and Rosemarie DeWitt (the female Kevin Bacon). Most of the film is set in a quaint cabin in the woods, but the story is far from horrific and refreshingly delightful. I whole-heartedly enjoyed it.
This film through fictional conversations has uniquely found a clever way to explores sexual attractions to spouses or partners of your siblings, etc. Plus an exploration as to whether it is ethical to trick a person into being your sperm donator. And to explore the importance to say you are sorry when you have hurt a loved one, and how to forgive such a transgressor. Fairly witty dialogue about modern relationships.
This movie gets off to an awkward start, but, hey, our hero is an awkward guy. Soon we find him taking off to one of the San Juan Islands, where to his surprise, he finds the sister of the friend who loaned him the cabin already in residence. What is most interesting is these three characters and their evolving relationships. The island is itself a character, deep and calm in its haunting winter beauty. This indie style NW Bellinghamptster hipster film is charming if you can relate to the lifestyle and have enjoyed time on a rural island. It certainly charmed me (eventually).
death and broken relationships leave two sisters and a best friend in various stages of grief, leading to some erratic behavior amongst the 3. by movie's end there has been some personal growth and insight - and a surprise.
Charming, light, beautifully filmed and some very good laughs. Saw at the Second Chance Film series on the university campus. Mark Duplass as Jack is very funny.
I saw this movie in the theatres, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. If you love seeing well-worded, well-acted, plays then this is a must. The singular setting makes for many delightfully awkward moments.
Really enjoyed this film. It's funny and interesting, and touching. A bit cheesy at times but strong enough writing that you can see past it.
Absolutely amazing! Lynn Shelton keeps getting better.
